You may have thrown it down, but He knows how to put it back together. He is saying, “Meet Me on the mountain.” Don’t let guilt or regrets keep you from going back up. But if you go back up that mountain, if you start believing again, God is going to give you back what you thought was broken, what you messed up. You may have missed opportunities, damaged relationships, mismanaged the blessing and favor on your life. How many of us have mishandled something incredibly valuable that God has given us? Perhaps we let our anger, our pride, our having to be right, tear a precious relationship apart. But when he went back down the mountain and saw the Israelites worshipping a golden calf, he was so angry that he raised the stone tablets, something sacred that God had entrusted to him, and he smashed them into pieces. The less time you spend with some people the better off you’re going to be. You won’t see your greatness hanging around crows-people who complain, find fault, see the worst. You can’t reach new levels hanging out with turkeys-people who compromise, take the easy way out, and are mediocre. But here’s the key: You can’t soar with the eagles if you’re hanging around chickens-people who have their head down, focused on what they can’t do. You need some people who soar, people who are doing great things, people who have a great attitude. You’re an eagle, and you need some eagles in your life. Life is too short for you to spend with negative, can’t-do-it, jealous, critical, small-minded people who are not moving forward. You can’t be passive when it comes to people polluting your life and poisoning your atmosphere. The only thing that’s holding some people back is who they’re spending time with.
